Koppert : Le Directeur de la Recherche Willem Ravensberg obtenu son doctorat ayant produit une feuille de route pour les agents microbiens de la protection des cultures

Head of Research Willem Ravensberg gained his PhD having produced a route map for microbial crop protection agents

Willem Ravensberg was awarded his PhD
Willem Ravensberg was awarded his PhD at Wageningen University on 7 September. He wrote his PhD thesis on the development and market introduction of microbiological crop protection agents for the control of arthropods (insects and mites).

Ravensberg’s thesis examines the various phases of and building blocks for the development process and contains recommendations for the necessary research and the appropriate decision-making.

In the presence of his family as well as the management and colleagues at Koppert, Ravensberg presented and successfully defended his thesis.

His thesis supervisor Professor Joop van Lenteren praised the new Doctor on his work. “It is precisely in keeping with the mission of our university: the procurement of healthy food in sufficient quantities in a world offering an adequate quality of life. Our vice-chancellor calls this ‘science for impact’. This is certainly an appropriate description of your thesis, as many of the previous results of your work are being put into practice in order to produce cleaner, that is to say non-toxic or low-toxicity food.''

Van Lenteren expects future generations of researchers active in the field of microbial pest control to make intensive use of Ravensberg's methods. Van Lenteren also believes that the new Doctor could play a significant role in the development of new regulations concerning new microbial products within Europe.
